Phil Johnson: The Details of Worship Matter

Segment 1 (00:00) At the “G3” conference, Todd introduces Phil Johnson, a preacher from Grace Baptist Church. They talk about lifting hands to pray or worship. Phil Johnson says it’s ok, but many times it’s to put on a display of faith.

Segment 2 (09:33) Todd and Phil talk about non-christians in the worship team. Phil says no, this will pollute the worship to God, regardless of musical talent. They also talk about babies in the service, but Phil Johnson doesn’t mind that.

Segment 3 (16:34) Phil is against multi-campus churches, but not churches with separate service times. He is also against altar calls, but ok with a true altar call taking place, as long as it is not a ritual.

Segment 4 (22:49) Phil explains there is a range of importance of different biblical issues, and some things are essential, such as the doctrine of Christ’s Godhead. But regardless of these secondary decisions, the Gospel is the key.
