Don’t Be An Almost Christian
Segment 1 (00:15) Phil Johnson joins Todd in studio for an interview. They discuss trendiness in evangelicalism. Alistair Begg clips: There are a lot of “almost Christians” that know about Christ but have not surrendered to his lordship.
Segment 2 (08:57) There is a difference in believing that a thing can do something and surrendering to that thing to do what you believe it can do. How do we go from head knowledge of Christ to accepting him into our hearts? If you are a real Christian, you will bear good fruit. The fruit is not what saves you, but it is a result of your salvation.
Segment 3 (18:02) A person who truly believes in Christ is devoted to him. We need to love Christ more than the wickedness that we used to love. Jesus needs to be precious to us. Love is more than the heart fluttery emotion people feel when they first fall in love. People have to have a correct knowledge of Jesus, of themselves, and of what Jesus did for them, then they will need to be conformed to the will of God. Their affections and devotions need to change as well.
Wretched Surprise! (24:50) Jesus calls us to full devotion to him that supersedes everything else in our lives.
