Christian Parents Don’t Punish, We Discipline
Christian parents don’t punish, we discipline. Discipline should be done in the same way that God disciplines us. Find the goal of parental discipline, think about where you are at emotionally before you discipline your child, consider if your discipline style is abusive.
Segment 1 (0:00) – As a parent we need to consider what our child remembers of who we are; of our character, and does that character reflect a Christians walk? How do you as a parent respond when we find that we have sinned against our children. What are some reasons our kids may not talk to us about the issues they face?
Segment 2 (9:09) – What is the difference between punishment and discipline, and which would your kids say you do? Do you as a parent understand the difference between punishment, retribution and restoration? Let’s consider what a Biblical parent must look like if we truly want our child to seek Holiness.
Segment 3 (17:38) – Do you live in a home that represents a home of Biblical character; or a war zone? Do your children come home and feel that “this is home” the best, most peaceful place in the world? We still must find balance. We must lovingly discipline our children with a specific direct in mind.
