All Things for His Glory
Segment 1 (00:00) – Todd introduces the topic of facing hardships in life before going to the first flashback clip. In the first clip, Todd opens the topic of facing “rainy days” by showing a poem from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. This poem gives advice that seems right to the world, but it is not at all Biblical. Instead of grinning and bearing through the trials we face, we need to view the trial as a part of God’s grand plan. He has ordained it for a reason, and we need to rejoice that God’s will for our lives is being carried out.
Segment 2 (08:10) – Todd opens inspecting the notion of wanting to know what’s God’s reasoning when putting us through trials. The flashback clip has Todd stretching the “rainy day” analogy in order to demonstrate how if we need to survive, then rain is needed. If our outlook on life is just to have fun, however, then rain will appear to be a bad thing. Todd then uses Bible verses such as Acts 17:28 and Psalm 139:1-2 to prove that everything that happens is under God’s sovereign control. Afterwards he defines sovereignty to put on a new meaning to these “rainy days”.
Segment 3 (17:14) – In the third flashback clip, Todd defines the terms “Providence,” “Benevolence,” “Concurrence,” and “Theodicy” to show everything that has happened and will happen is under the control of God. It is all done and permitted for one goal, to glorify Himself through the sacrifice of His Son: Jesus Christ.
Wretched Surprise! (25:28) – Bible verse: Psalm 2:11-12
