7 Ways to Have Gospel Amnesia – part 1

Todd Friel reminds how we often forget the gospel.  Then, he shares the gospel in two points that we are very bad sinners who hate God and Jesus is a very great Savior who saves rebels.  Todd then works through a his list entitled “7 Ways to Have Gospel Amnesia, Part 1”, to show phrases that indicate we have forgotten the first part of the gospel that we are very bad sinners.  Todd then shows a video clip of Cory and Dayna Foster’s testimony, showing how in both lives by God’s grace, they showed both points of the gospel.


Segment 1 (0:00) – Todd discusses as part of noetic effect of The Fall, we forget, and so both Peter and Paul provide examples of reminding Christians again and again of the gospel.  Todd then shares the gospel, focusing on the two points that we are very bad sinners who hate God and Jesus is a very great Savior who saves rebels.

Segment 2 (9:04) – Todd works through his list “7 Ways to Have Gospel Amnesia, Part 1”, which centers upon how we forget the first part of the gospel message that we are very bad sinners who hate God.  The key phrases that indicate that we have forgotten the gospel include when I was your age, kids these days, how many times do I have to tell you, what is the matter with you, I can’t believe you did that, how dare you, and I’m disgusted with you.

Segment 3 (17:12) – As an example of the gospel, Todd shows a clip of Cory and Dayna Foster’s testimony.  Cory discusses his sins of pornography, drugs, sex, crime, and excess drinking and how his life fell apart when his parents were divorced.  He married Dayna and then proceeded to seek out many affairs.  He really desired to be known.  By God’s grace he did confess fully to Dayna and by God’s grace she remembered the gospel, not walking out but instead forgiving him.  It was the first time that Cory felt the love of God.
