11 Reasons to Affirm the Deity of Jesus
Segment 1 (0:00) – How do we describe the hypostatic union of Christ? Can we use an analogy to help us understand the fact that He is both fully God and fully man? Though analogies can be helpful for understanding the nature of certain things, we must be careful using them to describe God! First, Jesus was undoubtedly God, as Nathan Busenitz demonstrates in his list: “11 Reasons to Affirm the Deity of Christ.”
Segment 2 (11:01) – Do we really need to study the nature of Christ? Yes – our eternity depends on it! Jesus said that if you don’t know Him, then you don’t know the Father either. There are several observations in the Bible we can make that prove Jesus was fully man. How can we reconcile His two natures? Where analogies fail, the Chalcedonian creed succeeds!
Segment 3 (18:57) – Did Jesus set aside His divinity when he became a man? There is a reason behind that old heresy. While Jesus did not set aside his divine nature, he did set aside his right to act upon it. Instead, it was through the power of the Holy Spirit that He performed miracles. That same Holy Spirit gives us as Christians the ability to resist temptation and grow in wisdom and knowledge.
